Vogelzang Ponderosa TR007 Wood-Burning Stove with Blower Review

Owners comment that although the Vogelzang Ponderosa claims to heat up spaces up to 3,000 sq/ft that the stove may be better suited for a space up to 2,200 sq/ft, so make sure about your needs prior to springing for this stove. 

This Vogelzang has a nice deep box which will allow you to load it with larger wood, roughly 22″ the company claims, but owners recommend 18″ or smaller logs.

While the company created a deep box to get the larger logs into the stove to keep the fire going for an extended period of time, some owners have complained about the airflow of this Vogelzang.  They don’t like how limited the airflow is and state that the fire needs to get started with the door open, which over the course of using the stove will allow smoke to enter your home.

When the door is closed the flame seems to go out which they believe is due to inadequate airflow in the Vogelzang Ponderosa. 

Many owners comment on how flimsy the floor pan under the firebrick is, and that the coal build-up in the back of the stove isn’t fun to deal with, saying the fire burns fast in the front while the coals build up in the back. This causes you to have to deal with the coals almost every time you load the stove.

The final word on this Vogelzang Ponderosa is that it’s a middle of the road medium sized wood burning stove. You could do better and worse in your search to replace an older wood burning stove, but if you are looking to heat a space up to 2,000 sq/ft you may want to give this unit a try. If you do make this purchase, just make sure to replace the blower that comes with it, as almost every owner believes it’s an inadequate source of pushing heat around your room.
